Linux Kernel Developer

About the team:


The main task of the team is to integrate new Linux distributions (kernel, toolchain, GPL). Linux support of the new hardware variants.


What you will need to do in the role, and we will help you to do it:


  • Finetune the kernel and drivers to fulfill industry standards and fit to customer requirements
  • Check latest patches and put them in use on the boards
  • Uplift major kernel version with a close co-operation with our 3rd party kernel vendor
  • Fit the kernel to be used on newly developed boards (new boards sometimes come with new processors)


 What skills and experience are essential for the position?


  • Experienced in embedded Linux kernel development / maintenance
  • Extensive device driver development and support
  • Knowledge of Linux kernel internals (process scheduler, memory management, concurrency / synchronization, memory allocation, file systems) and networking subsystem
  • Familiarity with kernel development tools
  • Strong debugging skills in kernel context
  • Maintain contact with both upstream and vendor kernel provider
  • Maintain / integrate vendor SDK for specific SoCs
If you have experience in one of these it is a plus:


  • Expertise with Linux, USB, PCIe, GPIO, SPI and I2C
  • Experience in modifying and building Linux system images with Yocto
  • Familiarity with ARM architecture (PowerPC is an extra bonus)
  • Familiarity with Real Time concepts (RT-Linux)
